Imphal, January 24, 2006: With the Army having reportedly flushed out underground cadres from Thanlon and Parbung sub-divisions of Churachandpur district, the State Government has decided to deploy two to three battalions of security forces to occupy the said areas.
Along with this, the State Government has also chalked out a plan to complete the work along Tipaimukh Road within this year.
An official source disclosed to The Sangai Express that two to three battalions of security forces would be deployed to occupy the areas in Thanlon and Parbung sub-divisions from where the Army have cleared the underground cadres.
Along with the success of the Army, the State Government will speed up the road construction work along the 262 km long Tipaimukh route with the target of completing the task by last week of the current year, the source said.
The official source further informed that Mizoram Government has been providing relief and other necessary assistance to the villagers of Parbung (705 of them in Government record) who have fled to Mizoram since the Army launched Operation Dragnet to flush out UGs.
The State Government will compensate its Mizoram counterpart for all the expenditure incurred in looking after the refugees.
