Lamka, February 21, 2006: Two victims of landmine left today for artificial appendage of their maimed body parts at a Military Hospital in Pune.
Ever since stepping on explosive devise planted by militants, Thangkhanlun (30) S/o L Thangkhopau of Sinzawl village, Thanlon sub-division, whose left leg was severed, and Mrs. Zenzaniang w/o Khamkhanlian of Thanlon, who have been living without a right arm for the past couple of years, were living their life in anguish.
However their life would have a new meaning with Army gesture, who in addition to bearing all expenses have handed Rs. 4000 in cash to each victim and their aids to remunerate their on way expenses.
The initiative, yet another gesture of Army, to the civilian populace was initiated after Zomi Students Federation calls on the Army.
This, claimed sources in the ZSF, will not be a sole case but an initial one and more of it will be witnessed.
More than a dozen have lost their lives and many more amputated in the district, since militant outfits resort to deadly tactics of planting mines and IED to thwart any military advancement on their turf.
