Imphal, March 07, 2006: Various Kuki socio-political bodies leaders comprising of KCLF, KISHD, KSO, KMA, KWA, KUMHUR in a joint sitting in Imphal unanimously condemned the alleged mass rape by cadres of two non-tribal underground organisations operating in an around Thanlon and Tipaimukh sub-divisions in Churchandpur district, said a joint statement.
The behaviour of the militants against women folks and young girls belonging to Hmar-Kuki tribe had been reliably established, it added.
The unbecoming of such revolutionary organisations is pertinent to note that the severity of the blow harassment, attrocities of any degree and the rapes in which people are induced should be shun out to re-instate mutual co-existence in this strife torn part of Manipur, affirmed the statement.
Meanwhile, the sitting endorsed and supports the peace rally of Churchandpur to be held on March 8, added the release.
On the other hand, amidst protest from various organisations of Kuki Nampi’ (a conglomerate Kuki organisations) held a meeting today at KBC Conference hall unanimouslly resolved to stage “Mass Protest Rally” for release of Pastor Rev. Dr. T. Lunkim from the custody on or before March 8, said another statement of Kuki Nampi i.e KCLF, KUKI INPI, KSO, KMA, KWU and KUMHUR.
The release further urged every Kukis in particular and all the right thinking citizen in the country to lodge the protest with active participation in the ‘Rally” on March 9 at 11 am in the following places Saikul Playground, Gaingam Lentol (Moreh), Peace Ground Tuibong Churchandpur)and Brig. Thomas Ground (Kangpokpi).
