Imphal, March 20, 2006: One of the 14 alleged rape victims at Lungthulien on January 16 this year gave her confessional statement before the Link Magistrate of Bishnupur on March 15, said a well placed source.
The source informed The Sangai Express today that the 21 year old girl was medically examined and added that a case has been registered at the Parbung police station, after she volunteered to give her accounts to the authority concerned under CrPC 164, said the source. Parbung police subsequently registered an FIR number 6 (2) 2006.
The proscribed UNLF and the KCP had strongly refuted the allegations of mass rape and had even suggested that an independent body be constituted to probe the matter.
