Imphal, March 31, 2006: A three-member delegation of Hmar Women’s Association (HWA) this evening met Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to prevail upon him to shift the headquarters of the Rajkhowa Commission for taking the statements of the alleged rape victims to Parbung Sub-Division.
Association president Sawni informed that the outcome of the meeting with the Chief Minister was very positive.
As there is the threat perceptive from some groups when the victims come down to Imphal for giving their statements before the Commission, the Chief Minister was requested for shifting the headquarters of the Commission at Parbung and extend of the duration for submitting the affidavit from 14 days to 30 days, she said, adding that the Chief Minister gave his assurance of discussing the proposal made by the Association.
MP Mani Charanamei and GOC of 57 Mountain Division EJ Kochekkan were also reportedly present during the meeting.
