Lamka, June 19, 2006: An apex council of the Vaiphei community, Vaiphei Peoples Council was all in praise of the Assam Rifles encamping along the Tipaimukh Highway, NH 150 for their initiative in addressing various grievances of the interior territories.
Seven IED’s were unearth and defuse between the hilly villages of Lungchuang and Mualdak within the last couple of months by personnel of 2nd AR led by Col.
RS Bains claimed P Kamkholal and Khailal Suantak, president and general secretary of VPC.
The forces had already set up a 10 bedded Hospital at Muolhoiching village and organized peace meeting at various villages including Munpi, leaders of the Vaiphei Council said in their appreciation note of the AR.
Presenting the various photographs of IED’s that were disarmed by the forces, the council claimed that Assam Rifles and Army had assured the people of standing for their welfare, at a time when the cyclical famine in the region was apparent.
The tireless activities of Assam Rifles along Tipaimukh Highway for the sake of innocent and pitiable villagers are praiseworthy in the long run and thus received an ardent appreciation from the council said the Vaiphei community’s apex body.
