Imphal, September 24, 2006: Several civil society organisations of the Meitei community based in Churachandpur have strongly condemned the ultimatum served to the state government by the Hmar National Assembly which have threatened to serve quit notice to Meitei community living in Churachandpur if state government fails to fulfill their demands within 40 days.

A public meeting in this regard was held today at Khuga Tampak, Churachandpur which was participated by several organisations, particularly of the Meitei community.

After minutely discussing the HNA ultimatum, the meeting unanimously resolved that HNA should rescind its notice before the deadline expires and such an announcement be made through mass media.

The meeting however unanimously resolved to continue with the public curfew being imposed in Meitei inhabited areas in Churachandpur till a competent authority made a notice in this regard.

While resolving to maintain harmony amongst all the communities, the meeting also resolved to appeal community based organisations not to pressed any demand which can be a threat to integrity of the state keeping in view of upholding the spirit of globalization.

While resolving that indigenous communities in Manipur have been sharing pain and sorrows of their brethren communities during the time of difficulties, the meeting also resolved to uphold the spirit of unity and harmony as has been existing amongst different communities.

Today`s meeting was organized by the Meetei Youth Organisation, Churachandpur and it was participated by leaders of several civil society organisations of Meitei community based in Churachandpur apart from well wishers and senior citizen.
