Imphal, January 8, 2007: The proscribed UNLF today claimed that two security personnel were killed when they were attacked by MPA cadres of the outfit today at about 7.30 am near Hengshi in Chandel district. The security personnel were on patrol duty when they were attacked by the MPA cadres, said a spokesman of the outfit today.
On being contacted, police however said that they have not received reports of any death but admitted that one rifleman of the security personnel was injured. The rifleman is identified as Mukesh Kumar (25) of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. He has been shifted to the Army hospital at Leimakhong. He was attached to the 16 Assam Rifles but is originally from 51 Engineering, said police sources.
