Imphal, January 10, 2007: Reacting to the news item published under the caption, “UNLF claims success strike” in the January 10 issue of this paper, the PRO of Assam Rifles in a statement today said that the outfit is spreading false propaganda to raise the morale of their cadres and to give an incorrect picture to the people of Manipur.
The PRO said that the UNLF cadres came from across the international border from Myanmar and fired indiscriminately from a far distance. The firing was completely ineffective, maintained the statement and added that in the indiscriminate firing a 65 year old man was injured. The injured has been named as Jamkhothang Baite of Gamphazol.
