Imphal, March 17, 2007: In connection with the alleged rape and attempted murder of an 18-year old girl by a personnel of 38 Assam Rifles at Veitum Khullen, representatives of KSO, ATSUM and ANSAM met the Chief Minister this afternoon.
According to source, Chief Secretary, DGP and officials of Assam Rifles were also present during the meeting in which the AR officials informed that staff court of inquiry into the incident has been started from its side while the Chief Minister appealed to the student leaders to refrain from calling bandh and blockade in this connection.
However, when the student leaders demanded to know how long the inquiry would last, the AR officials failed to give a definite reply, the source added.
