Imphal, April 21, 2007: The Kuki Students’ organisation has set a deadline of April 25 to the State Govt for concrete and positive action on the Veitum Khullen rape case and TS Laijang refugee issue failing which the student body in association with other organisation would enforce 24 hours State-wide bandh from 5 am of April 26.
KSO demanded that State Govt convert its assurance into action with regard to settlement of the Veitum Khullen incident and depute a Ministerial team to assess conditions of displaced Kuki villagers currently staying at a Moreh relief camp.
Reminding that the KSO had already set April 25 to execute Govt assurances as was agreed in an earlier meeting, a release of the student body said along with ATSUM, ANSAM and other like-minded organisations the bandh call would be enforced under any circumstance in case of failure from the Govt side to respond appropriately.
